Asia’s New Language: English

Do you want to be successful in Asia?  Then learn the local language, English.  In many parts of the vast continent, it’s as common as the indigenous tongue, says Australian analyst Benjamin Herscovitch.

“Asia has approximately 800 million English speakers, which in effect means it has far more English speakers than the entire Anglosphere,” he writes.  “English is particularly widespread in Asia’s two most important powers, China and India.”
